Paper is made from cellulose and water, and cotton contains a high percentage of cellulose, making it ideal for high-quality, chemical-free paper—an excellent alternative to tree-based options. At Bluecat Paper, we ensure that cotton bits do not end up in landfills. Instead, we put them through a sustainable paper making process. First, the cotton is sorted by colour to retain the original hues, avoiding the need for new dyes. The sorted pieces are then chopped and beaten into pulp, which is processed using a Fourdrinier machine to form sheets. This machine ensures uniform thickness, efficient drying, and smooth calendaring for a high-quality finish. The result is beautiful cotton rag paper, produced at the Bluecat Paper factory.
